When we will be living abroad, and we will miss these colors….

4716-3I never bought a novel by Camilleri. Mind you, I’ve been tempted…and I am a Sellerio junkie…

But I always said “One day we will leave Italy. I will miss the Italian language, the sun, and maybe I will want to indulge in getting familiarised with the Sicilian dialect. I’ll save the pleasure of buying and reading these books for that (rainy) day”.

I have not bought the novels yet. Maybe because BBC4 every Sunday night dispenses my TV dose of Montalbano dope, be it Montalbano or Il Giovane Montalbano…and tonight, a special on Camilleri with Teresa Mannino.

But one day, I am sure, I will want to dive in those brightly sun-lit streets, those cedars, those incredible dishes…for some reason I still indulge in novels set in gray northern lights and Mitteleuropean fogs…but one day, those blue small books will be my arancini.

Le indagini sono carine a volte fortissime ma io leggo Camilleri per la sua lingua, questo linguaggio creativo e colorito tanto godereccio. E poi vado pazza per la Sicilia.
