Not at face value

P1180504If one would judge by the cover, most probably the book would not make it in the basket. But I didn’t and in the end it is a very good novel. Set in London, in that bit of Chelsea close to the Thames, almost reaching out to Pimlico (La Poule au Pot, anyone?) it contrasts a lot between today’s oligarch playground and 20yrs ago high end but almost sleepy atmosphere.

I love books about bookstores and book junkies, and the main character is one. Moreover, he is a Serbian immigré and this is also interesting. He arrived in London more or less in the same years as I did. But the novel is set in today’s London and it depicts it marvellously.
